Dr Minette Smit
Dr Minette Smit is the founder and Managing Director of Compliance Online (Pty) Ltd.
She holds a PhD in Economics.
She was an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of the Free State and was appointed as the first Chief Economist of the Competition Commission of South Africa in 1999. After leaving the Commission, she spent some time in the Strategy, Finance and Economics Knowledge Team at Arthur Andersen before joining the Competition Law Department of Webber Wentzel Attorneys as their in-house economist in 2002.
Since 2010 she has been involved full-time in managing and growing Compliance Online.
She has published a number of articles in the South African Journal of Economics and is co-writer and editor of the first and second editions of A Practical Guide to the South African Competition Act (2017, LexisNexis Butterworths, Durban).
Minette is passionate about teaching and has 16 years of experience in compliance training.
